Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is the cornerstone of our daily vitality, with the average adult consuming nearly 550 liters daily, making up a staggering 90% of our energy source. In contrast, food and water constitute a mere fraction. The human brain, despite being only 2% of our body's total weight, demands a hefty 25% of the oxygen intake. This vital gas fuels the life-sustaining energy cycle. Insufficient oxygen in our tissues can trigger adverse health conditions, ranging from infections to tissue damage. Hypoxia—low tissue oxygen—requires swift intervention, and utilizing a hyperbaric chamber is a proven and effective method to correct it.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As the chamber pressurizes, you may notice pressure changes in your ears, akin to flying or diving. Simple actions like yawning, swallowing, or gently blowing your nose can equalize this pressure, alleviating discomfort. Aside from this, the experience is pleasant and free from unusual sensations.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized at 1.3 to 1.5 times normal atmospheric levels, the difference might not be obvious, but breathing pure oxygen here enhances oxygen intake 7-8 times more than usual. Thanks to Henry's Law, this pressurized oxygen rapidly dissolves into body fluids, significantly elevating tissue oxygenation within minutes. Scientifically validated, this process accelerates healing and overall well-being.
What improvements can I expect to see?
While results vary widely due to individual differences, most users report noticeable improvements. Our primary goal is enhancing quality of life, and historically, the majority experience positive outcomes.
When will I know how many sessions of HBOT are enough?
You will not. What you will be able to notice is whether you are continuing to get improvements. A clinical study on 1730 subjects shows the need of around 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic ones. If you saw results during the first 40 sessions, do another 40. If improvements continue, do another 40. Etc. Etc. You are a better judge of the number of sessions needed than any Doctor.
What about Oxygen Toxicity?
Oxygen Toxicity is not a problem at pressures below 1.5 ATA. Many times stress is mistaken for oxygen toxicity. Occasionally, there may be a patient who is more sensitive to Oxygen than others and pressures may need to be adjusted to meet the needs of the patient.
