Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is vital for daily life, as an adult on average uses 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and nearly 550 liters of oxygen. Astonishingly, 90% of our energy is derived from oxygen, with only 10% coming from food and water. The brain, although just 2% of our body weight, consumes a hefty 25% of the oxygen we breathe. This crucial element fuels our energy cycle, the essence of life. Insufficient oxygen in tissue can initiate a cascade of detrimental events leading to illness, infection, or tissue damage. Hypoxia, or tissue oxygen deficiency, must be addressed swiftly. A hyperbaric chamber is an effective solution to rectify such oxygen imbalances.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As the chamber pressurizes, you may experience ear pressure changes, akin to altitude adjustments. Some might find this mildly painful, but simple actions like yawning, swallowing, or 'blowing the nose' can equalize the pressure and alleviate any ear discomfort. Besides this, there are no other unusual sensations.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times normal, you might not feel much difference, but inhaling pure oxygen enhances oxygen intake by 7-8 times. According to Henry's Law, the amount of gas dissolved in a liquid is directly proportional to its pressure. This principle allows pressurized oxygen to dissolve into body fluids, rapidly boosting tissue oxygen levels, thereby stimulating healing processes effectively.
What improvements can I expect to see ?
The improvements vary by individual, as no two cases are identical. Generally, users experience enhanced quality of life, although results can differ. It's rare not to observe any positive changes.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
Determining the number of necessary sessions varies per individual. A clinical study on 1730 subjects suggests about 15 sessions for acute and 40 for chronic injuries. If results are evident within the first 40 sessions, continue with another 40, and so forth. Ultimately, you're the best judge of your own progress, rather than relying solely on a Doctor's advice.
