Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is vital to our everyday existence; an average adult processes around 2 kg of food and 1 liter of water, but remarkably, breathes approximately 550 liters of oxygen daily. This precious element supplies 90% of the energy we need, with our brain alone consuming 25% of the inhaled oxygen despite being only 2% of our body weight. This vital oxygen powers the energy cycle sustaining life. A deficiency in oxygen within our tissues can lead to severe health issues such as infections or tissue damage. It's crucial to address tissue hypoxia promptly, and a hyperbaric chamber offers an outstanding solution to restore optimal oxygen levels.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
Inside the chamber, as it undergoes pressurization, you may experience changes in ear pressure, similar to altitude adjustments. This can cause slight ear discomfort, which can be alleviated by yawning, swallowing, or gently blowing your nose to equalize the pressure. Beyond this manageable ear sensation, the chamber experience remains quite ordinary and comfortable.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Within a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times normal air pressure, you might not notice a significant difference in feel, but breathing pure oxygen under these conditions dramatically increases oxygen intake to 7-8 times the usual amount. According to Henry's Law, the amount of gas dissolved in a liquid is directly proportional to its partial pressure. Thus, the pressurized environment enables oxygen to dissolve directly into bodily fluids, boosting tissue oxygen levels substantially in just a few minutes, a process scientifically proven to accelerate healing.
What improvements can I expect to see ?
Anticipating outcomes from oxygen therapy involves various factors, but a general expectation is an enhanced quality of life. While results vary among individuals, it is rare not to observe any positive changes. Our focus remains on improving overall wellness and vitality.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
Determining the number of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) sessions depends largely on personal progress. Clinical studies indicate about 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic conditions. Continuation depends on noticed improvements; if results are seen after 40 sessions, another series may be beneficial. Ultimately, personal judgment, based on observed benefits, guides the number of sessions required.
