Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is essential to life, with an average adult consuming nearly 550 liters every day. It powers 90% of our daily energy needs, with the brain alone using 25% of inhaled oxygen. It’s crucial for the energy cycle that sustains life. Inadequate oxygen leads to severe consequences like infections or tissue damage. Correcting tissue hypoxia is vital, and hyperbaric chambers provide an effective solution by infusing tissues with much-needed oxygen.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
Inside the chamber, as pressure increases, you might feel ear pressure changes similar to flying. Simple actions like yawning or swallowing can equalize this pressure, preventing discomfort. Apart from this, no other unusual sensations occur.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
In a pressurized chamber set at 1.3 to 1.5 times normal air pressure, breathing pure oxygen provides 7-8 times more than usual. According to Henry's Law, pressure increases gas dissolution in liquids, so the body absorbs oxygen directly into its fluids, profoundly boosting tissue oxygenation and promoting healing.
What improvements can I expect to see ?
Results vary broadly, and although individual experiences differ, most people notice enhanced quality of life. Improvements are personal, but rare are the cases where none are observed.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
Determining the correct number of sessions is personal. Studies suggest 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic issues. If improvements are seen, continue with additional sessions as necessary. You are the best judge of your progress, more than any doctor.
