Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is the cornerstone of our vitality! An average adult consumes around 2 kg of food and 1 liter of water daily, but a staggering 550 liters of oxygen. This vital oxygen fuels 90% of our daily energy requirements, with the remaining supplemented by food and water. Our brain, though only 2% of body weight, demands 25% of inhaled oxygen to sustain our energy cycle. Insufficient oxygen in tissues triggers adverse events, potentially leading to ailments. Hypoxia, or low tissue oxygen, presents a brief window for intervention. Hyperbaric chambers offer a potent solution to rectify tissue hypoxia, supporting health and well-being.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As the chamber pressurizes, you might notice pressure changes in your ears, similar to flying or diving. This can be alleviated by yawning, swallowing, or gently 'blowing the nose'. Aside from this ear sensation, the experience is typically quite normal, without any unexpected or unusual feelings.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times normal air pressure, breathing pure oxygen increases your intake to 7-8 times the typical amount. According to Henry's Law, the solubility of gas in a liquid is directly proportional to its partial pressure. This means that pressurized oxygen dissolves into body fluids, elevating tissue oxygen levels significantly. Scientifically, this enhances healing processes, promoting recovery and health.
What improvements can I expect to see ?
Improvements vary greatly among individuals, so we can generalize from experience. Typically, enhancements in quality of life occur. Results might differ, but it's rare not to observe some positive changes. We're aiming for noticeable improvements in overall well-being.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
The number of HBOT sessions needed varies. Generally, noticeable improvements guide the process. A study with 1730 participants suggests around 15 sessions for acute conditions and 40 for chronic ones. If you see benefits from the first 40, consider continuing with another 40. Your personal observation is a key factor in determining the required number of sessions.
