Why is oxygen so important?
Every day, an average adult consumes 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and approximately 550 liters of oxygen. Remarkably, 90% of our daily energy is derived from oxygen, with the rest from food and water. Despite constituting just 2% of body weight, the human brain utilizes 25% of inhaled oxygen, crucial for sustaining the energy cycle that supports life. Insufficient oxygen levels in tissues, known as hypoxia, can lead to infections or tissue damage if not corrected promptly. Hyperbaric chambers offer an excellent solution for countering tissue hypoxia effectively.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As the chamber begins to pressurize, you may notice pressure changes in your ears, potentially causing slight discomfort. To alleviate this sensation and avoid feeling fullness, try yawning, swallowing, or gently blowing your nose. Besides the ear pressure adjustment, there are no other unusual sensations to expect.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a pressurized chamber, set 1.3 to 1.5 times above normal air pressure, you might not notice the pressure difference. However, breathing pure oxygen in this environment allows you to absorb 7-8 times more oxygen than usual. According to Henry's Law, the amount of gas dissolved in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure. Hence, the pressurized oxygen dissolves directly into all body fluids, rapidly elevating tissue oxygen levels. This scientifically proven process significantly promotes healing.
What improvements can I expect to see?
Improvements vary widely due to numerous factors, making it difficult to offer a definitive answer. Generally, users experience enhanced quality of life, though results differ for each individual. It is uncommon not to observe some form of improvement.
When will I know how many sessions of HBOT are enough?
Determining the exact number of sessions necessary is challenging. You will observe ongoing improvements as an indicator. A clinical study involving 1,730 subjects suggests approximately 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic conditions. If you notice positive outcomes during the initial 40 sessions, consider an additional 40. Continue with further sessions based on continued improvements. Trust your judgment, as it may surpass even a doctor's in evaluating the needed sessions.
