Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is the essence of life: every day, we consume roughly 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and a staggering 550 liters of oxygen. An extraordinary 90% of our daily energy is oxygen-derived, while only 10% stems from food and water. Astonishingly, our brain, which constitutes merely 2% of our entire body weight, demands a hefty 25% of the oxygen we inhale. Oxygen fuels the vital energy cycle sustaining life. A deficiency in tissue oxygen, known as hypoxia, can swiftly lead to disease, infection, or tissue destruction if not promptly addressed. Correcting tissue hypoxia expediently is crucial, and one of the most effective remedies is the use of a hyperbaric chamber.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As you enter the hyperbaric chamber and it begins to pressurize, you might notice a change in ear pressure, akin to what you experience during altitude changes in a plane. This sensation might cause slight ear discomfort, but it can be alleviated by yawning, swallowing, or gently 'blowing the nose.' Beyond this minimal ear pressure, the experience remains remarkably ordinary and free of unusual sensations.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Immersed in a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times the standard air pressure, it might initially feel like an ordinary environment. However, breathing pure oxygen within this chamber exponentially increases oxygen intake to 7-8 times the typical amount. This phenomenon is explained by Henry's Law, which states that the quantity of gas dissolved in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure. Consequently, the pressurized oxygen permeates all body fluids, elevating tissue oxygen levels significantly above normal, a scientifically-proven mechanism that invigorates healing.
What improvements can I expect to see ?
While individual experiences may vary, improvements in your quality of life are both anticipated and celebrated. It's rare not to witness some form of enhancement, as each person's journey is unique. Our primary focus is ensuring a tangible positive impact on your everyday life, while acknowledging the diversity of results.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
Determining the precise number of HBOT sessions can be elusive. The key indicator is continuous improvement in your condition. Clinical research on 1,730 participants suggests approximately 15 sessions for acute injuries and up to 40 for chronic conditions. If you experience progress within the first 40 sessions, additional cycles of 40 may be beneficial. Trust your own judgment, as personal insight often surpasses medical predictions.
