Why is oxygen so important?
Every day, the average adult relies on approximately 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and an astounding 550 liters of oxygen. An impressive 90% of our daily energy is derived from oxygen, with the remaining portion coming from food and water. Our brains, although only 2% of our body weight, demand 25% of the oxygen we breathe, underscoring oxygen's crucial role in sustaining the energy cycle that maintains life. Insufficient oxygen in body tissues can trigger a cascade of detrimental events, leading to disease conditions such as infections and tissue damage. This state, known as hypoxia, offers a narrow window for correction. A hyperbaric chamber provides an exceptional solution for remedying tissue hypoxia.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
During pressurization in the chamber, you may notice pressure changes in your ears, which could cause mild discomfort. To alleviate this, try yawning, swallowing, or gently blowing your nose to equalize the pressure and prevent fullness. Aside from this ear pressure, you will not experience any unusual or different sensations.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
When inside a chamber pressurized at 1.3 to 1.5 times the normal air pressure, the environment might feel familiar, yet breathing pure oxygen in such conditions delivers 7-8 times the usual oxygen intake. According to Henry's Law, the gas dissolving in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure. This pressurized oxygen directly dissolves into all body fluids, rapidly raising tissue oxygen levels beyond normal. Scientifically validated, this process stimulates healing and recovery.
What improvements can I expect to see?
This question involves numerous variables and answers, necessitating a generalization. Based on common experience, improvements are consistently observed, though results vary per individual. The goal is to enhance the quality of life for every person.
When will I know how many sessions of HBOT are enough?
Determining the exact number of sessions can be challenging. Rather, focus on observing ongoing improvements. Clinical studies involving 1,730 subjects indicate approximately 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic ones. If results are seen within the first 40 sessions, consider continuing for another 40 to optimize benefits. Continue this pattern as long as improvements persist. Ultimately, you are the best judge of your treatment needs, potentially more so than medical professionals.
