Why is oxygen so important?
The vital role of oxygen is undeniable. An average adult requires 2 kg of food and 1 liter of water, but nearly 550 liters of oxygen daily. Oxygen contributes to 90% of our energy, with the rest coming from food and water. The human brain, though only 2% of total body weight, demands a hefty 25% of the oxygen intake. Oxygen is crucial for the energy cycle that sustains life. Insufficient oxygen in body tissues triggers a cascade of events that, if not corrected, may lead to diseases, infections, tissue damage, or both. Hypoxia, or low oxygen levels in tissues, presents a narrow window to be corrected. A hyperbaric chamber is an excellent solution for addressing tissue hypoxia.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
Inside a hyperbaric chamber during pressurization, you may notice pressure changes affecting your ears, potentially causing discomfort. To alleviate this sensation, you can yawn, swallow, or 'blow the nose' to equalize the pressure. Beyond this, no other unusual sensations are expected.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
In a chamber pressurized at 1.3 to 1.5 times normal air pressure, you may not perceive differences, but inhaling pure oxygen can increase oxygen intake by 7-8 times. According to Henry's Law, the gas dissolves in a liquid proportionate to its partial pressure. Thus, pressurized oxygen directly permeates body fluids, swiftly elevating tissue oxygen levels beyond normal. This scientifically validated process stimulates healing effectively.
What improvements can I expect to see?
This question encompasses various factors and answers, necessitating a generalized response. Based on experience, it is rare not to observe improvements. The goal is enhancing the quality of life for each individual.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
You may not know precisely. However, you will discern improvements. A clinical study involving 1,730 subjects recommends around 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic conditions. If results appear within the initial 40 sessions, consider continuing for another 40. Improvements dictate session continuation; you can judge the needed sessions better than any doctor.
