Why is oxygen so important?
Every day, an average adult consumes approximately 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and astonishingly, nearly 550 liters of oxygen! A staggering 90% of our daily energy derives from oxygen, with food and water contributing the remaining portion. Despite comprising only 2% of the total body weight, the human brain utilizes 25% of the oxygen we inhale. Oxygen is vital for energizing our life-sustaining processes. Without sufficient oxygen, our body can experience detrimental events leading to disease, whether through infection or tissue damage. When less oxygen (hypoxia) is present in tissues, there's a fleeting chance to rectify it. Employing a hyperbaric chamber is an exceptional way to address tissue hypoxia effectively.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As the chamber pressurizes, you may notice a change in ear pressure, akin to the sensation during a flight. Some discomfort might arise, but simple actions like yawning, swallowing, or 'blowing the nose' can alleviate the feeling. Beyond this ear pressure adjustment, the experience is typically smooth and comfortable.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized to 1.3-1.5 times normal air pressure, although it may feel similar, breathing pure oxygen significantly boosts the oxygen intake by a factor of 7-8 times the normal amount. According to Henry's Law, the amount of gas dissolved in a liquid correlates with its partial pressure. In this environment, oxygen dissolves directly into all body fluids swiftly, elevating tissue oxygen levels beyond normal. This process is scientifically validated to stimulate the body's healing mechanisms.
What improvements can I expect to see?
This question varies due to numerous factors, so let's generalize. From experience, significant improvements in life quality are typically witnessed, although individual results differ. It's uncommon to see no improvements, and our focus is on enhancing life quality for everyone.
When will I know how many sessions of HBOT are enough?
Deciding on the number of HBOT sessions isn't straightforward. Notice if improvements continue. A study on 1,730 subjects indicates around 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic ones. If you notice benefits after 40 sessions, proceed with another 40. Continue this pattern if improvements persist. Ultimately, you are the best judge of your session needs.
