Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is vital to our daily lives, with an average adult consuming approximately 550 liters daily. It supplies 90% of our energy needs, whereas food and water account for the remaining 10%. The brain, weighing only 2% of the total body weight, consumes 25% of the breathed oxygen, crucial for sustaining life’s energy cycle. Insufficient oxygen leads to hypoxia, causing disease if not corrected, making hyperbaric chambers an excellent solution to restore oxygen levels in tissues.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
During pressurization, you might experience ear pressure changes, with slight ear pain possible. To alleviate this, try yawning, swallowing, or 'blowing the nose' to equalize the pressure and ease fullness in the ears. Other than ear pressure, there are no unusual sensations, ensuring a comfortable experience.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized at 1.3 to 1.5 times normal air pressure, one might not feel much difference. However, breathing pure oxygen there provides 7-8 times the usual oxygen intake. According to Henry's Law, gas dissolving in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure. The pressurized oxygen dissolves into body fluids, dramatically increasing tissue oxygen levels and scientifically stimulating healing.
What improvements can I expect to see?
Improvement expectations vary widely, contingent on numerous factors. While individual results differ, enhancements are common, aiming to elevate one's quality of life.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
Determining the optimal number of HBOT sessions is subjective. Typically, 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic cases are recommended based on a study involving 1730 subjects. Noticeable improvements during initial sessions may indicate the need for additional treatments. Ultimately, personal judgment on progress is often more telling than any prescribed number.
