Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is vital for life – an adult inhales around 550 liters daily. It fuels 90% of our body's energy, with the brain consuming a quarter of it despite being only 2% of body weight. Oxygen is crucial for our energy cycle; insufficient oxygen leads to tissue hypoxia, risking disease and infection. A hyperbaric chamber is an excellent solution to address low oxygen levels swiftly, ensuring optimal health.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
Upon pressurization, your ears might feel pressure or slight discomfort. To alleviate this, simple actions like yawning, swallowing, or gently blowing the nose can help. Apart from this minor ear sensation, no other unusual feelings are experienced.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
In a chamber pressurized beyond normal air levels, breathing pure oxygen provides a significant increase—7 to 8 times more than usual. According to Henry's Law, this extra oxygen dissolves into all body fluids, elevating tissue oxygen levels and stimulating healing, as confirmed by scientific research.
What improvements can I expect to see?
Improvements vary due to individual differences, but generally, an enhanced quality of life is expected. While outcomes differ, it is rare not to observe positive changes.
When will I know how many sessions of HBO are enough?
Observe your progress closely. While you may not directly notice changes, the key indicator is continuous improvement. Clinical research involving 1,730 participants reveals that around 15 sessions are typically required for acute injuries, while chronic conditions may necessitate about 40 sessions. If you experience positive results within the initial 40 sessions, it's advisable to proceed with an additional 40 sessions. Should progress persist, consider continuing with further sets of 40 sessions. Ultimately, your own judgment surpasses any doctor's advice when determining the necessary number of sessions.
What about Oxygen Toxicity?
At pressures under 1.5 ATA, Oxygen Toxicity isn't a concern. Often, what is perceived as oxygen toxicity is actually stress. However, in rare instances, a patient may exhibit heightened sensitivity to oxygen. In such cases, pressure adjustments are essential to accommodate the individual's needs safely.
