Why is oxygen so important?
Every day, the average adult requires about 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and a staggering 550 liters of oxygen. Remarkably, 90% of our daily energy is derived from oxygen, while the remaining comes from food and water. Although the human brain comprises merely 2% of our total body weight, it astonishingly utilizes 25% of the oxygen we inhale. Oxygen is vital for the energy cycle that sustains life. Insufficient oxygen in our body tissues can lead to a cascade of events that, if unaddressed, may result in diseases, infections, or tissue destruction. Hypoxia, a condition of low oxygen in tissues, offers a crucial window of opportunity for correction. A hyperbaric chamber serves as an excellent method to alleviate tissue hypoxia effectively.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As the chamber undergoes pressurization, you might notice changes in ear pressure, potentially causing mild discomfort. To alleviate this ear pressure and the sensation of fullness, you can yawn, swallow, or gently perform the Valsalva maneuver (blow your nose). Aside from this minor ear pressure, there are no unusual or different sensations experienced.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times normal air pressure, while it might not feel distinctly different, breathing pure oxygen significantly increases oxygen intake by 7-8 times the normal amount. According to Henry's Law, at a gas-liquid interface, the amount of gas that dissolves in the liquid is proportional to its partial pressure. Consequently, pressurized oxygen is absorbed directly into all body fluids, quickly elevating tissue oxygen levels far above typical levels. This scientifically backed process stimulates healing and revitalizes the body.
What improvements can I expect to see ?
With numerous variables and individual differences, it's challenging to provide a definitive answer. However, general experience suggests that it's rare not to observe some level of improvement. The primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for users, with each individual potentially experiencing unique benefits.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
Determining the exact number of sessions required can be challenging. However, you'll notice continued improvements, which will act as an indicator. Clinical studies on 1730 subjects indicate that approximately 15 sessions are needed for acute injuries, and 40 for chronic ones. If results are observed within the first 40 sessions, another round is recommended, and if improvements persist, continue with additional sessions. Ultimately, you, rather than any doctor, are best positioned to judge the appropriate number of sessions needed.
