Why is oxygen so important?
Each day, an adult typically intakes 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and nearly 550 liters of oxygen. Astonishingly, 90% of our energy is derived from oxygen, with the remaining sourced from food and water. Our brain, representing a mere 2% of body weight, consumes 25% of our oxygen intake. Oxygen is pivotal for sustaining life's energy cycle. A deficiency of oxygen in body tissues can trigger detrimental events leading to diseases, infections, or tissue damage. Low tissue oxygen levels, or hypoxia, demand prompt correction. A hyperbaric chamber serves as a remarkable solution for addressing tissue hypoxia.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
As the chamber pressurizes, you may notice ear pressure changes akin to altitude shifts. To alleviate potential ear discomfort, try yawning, swallowing, or gently blowing your nose. Apart from ear pressure, expect no other atypical sensations.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
When inside a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times the normal air pressure, it might feel familiar. However, inhaling pure oxygen here delivers 7-8 times the usual oxygen levels. According to Henry's Law, the gas amount dissolving in a liquid is proportionate to its partial pressure. Pressurized oxygen permeates body fluids, rapidly elevating tissue oxygen levels. This scientifically corroborated process significantly stimulates healing.
What improvements can I expect to see ?
With numerous variables in play, results can vary widely. Generally, improvements in quality of life are anticipated for most users, though individual experiences can differ. Rarely do users report lack of progress.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
You may not immediately notice the effects, but the key is to observe if improvements persist over time. An enlightening clinical study involving 1,730 participants reveals that typically, acute injuries may require about 15 sessions, while chronic conditions might benefit from as many as 40 sessions. Noticeable improvements after the initial 40 sessions suggest continuing with another 40. If progress remains steady, consider yet another 40. Ultimately, you are the most insightful judge of how many sessions your body may require, perhaps even more so than any physician.
Are there any concerns regarding Oxygen Toxicity?
Oxygen Toxicity is generally not an issue at pressures under 1.5 ATA. Often, what is perceived as oxygen toxicity is actually stress. On rare occasions, a patient might exhibit heightened sensitivity to Oxygen, necessitating pressure adjustments tailored to the patient's unique needs.
