Why is oxygen so important?
Oxygen is a life force; daily, an average adult consumes nearly 550 liters of it! A whopping 90% of our energy derives from oxygen, while food and water contribute the rest. Our brain, though only 2% of our body weight, demands 25% of the oxygen we inhale, fueling the critical energy cycle of life. Insufficient oxygen in body tissues can lead to dire consequences such as infection or tissue damage. Hypoxia, or low oxygen levels in tissues, provides only a brief window for correction. One of the most effective solutions is the use of a hyperbaric chamber, which can swiftly restore oxygen levels.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
During pressurization, you might experience ear pressure changes, akin to being at a higher altitude. A slight ear discomfort might occur, easily alleviated by yawning, swallowing, or gently blowing your nose. Beyond this, you won't feel any unusual sensations, ensuring a comfortable experience.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times normal air pressure, it may feel ordinary, yet it dramatically changes oxygen intake. Breathing pure oxygen under pressure delivers 7-8 times the regular amount. According to Henry's Law, gas dissolves in liquids proportionally to its pressure, allowing pressurized oxygen to saturate body fluids quickly. This influx elevates tissue oxygen far beyond normal levels, scientifically proven to accelerate healing processes.
What improvements can I expect to see?
The expectation of improvements varies as much as individual responses, making generalizations necessary. While results differ among individuals, it's uncommon not to observe enhancements. The key focus is on enhancing the quality of life for everyone, aiming for noticeable improvements.
When will I know how many sessions of HBOT are enough?
Determining the right number of sessions is not precise. It's all about noting continuous improvements. Studies involving 1,730 subjects recommend around 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic conditions. Should you notice progress within the initial 40 sessions, consider extending for another 40. If enhancements persist, continue as needed. Ultimately, you are the best judge of the required number of sessions over any doctor.
