Why is oxygen so important?
Every day, the average adult ingests 2 kg of food and 1 liter of water, but astonishingly, inhales nearly 550 liters of oxygen. Oxygen is responsible for 90% of the energy we use daily, with food and water supplying the remainder. Despite comprising only 2% of body weight, the human brain uses a staggering 25% of the oxygen we breathe, essential for the energy cycle that sustains life. Insufficient oxygen in body tissues can trigger a cascade of events leading to disease conditions, such as infections or tissue damage. Low oxygen in tissues (hypoxia) presents a brief window for correction. Utilizing a hyperbaric chamber has proven to be an excellent method for rectifying tissue hypoxia.
What do you feel inside a hyperbaric chamber?
During pressurization of the chamber, you may experience changes in ear pressure, possibly causing slight discomfort. To manage this, you can yawn, swallow or 'blow the nose' to equalize the pressure and eliminate the sensation of fullness in the ears. Other than this manageable ear pressure, you will not encounter any unusual or strange sensations.
How does being inside a pressurized chamber give us more oxygen?
Inside a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times the normal air pressure, it may feel similar to the outside environment. However, breathing pure oxygen under these conditions delivers 7-8 times the usual oxygen intake. According to Henry's Law, the amount of a gas dissolved in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure at the gas-liquid interface. The pressurized oxygen saturates all body fluids, and within minutes, tissue oxygen levels rise significantly above normal, scientifically proven to stimulate healing.
What improvements can I expect to see?
This question has countless variables and answers, so we must generalize. Based on experience, it's rare not to observe improvements. The goal is to enhance quality of life for everyone, though results may vary between individuals.
When will I know how many sessions of hbot are enough?
You won't have a definitive answer, but you can observe if improvements continue. A clinical study with 1,730 subjects suggests around 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic conditions. If you see results after 40 sessions, consider another 40. If benefits persist, continue accordingly. Ultimately, you are the best judge of how many sessions you need.
