Why is oxygen so vital to our existence?
Every day, an average adult consumes approximately 2 kg of food, 1 liter of water, and an astounding 550 liters of oxygen, the latter accounting for 90% of our daily energy! Our brains, despite being only 2% of our body weight, utilize a significant 25% of the oxygen we breathe. Oxygen is crucial for the energy cycle that sustains life. Insufficient oxygen in tissues can lead to severe conditions such as infection and tissue damage. Particularly, low oxygen levels (hypoxia) present a critical moment for intervention. An exceptional way to rectify tissue hypoxia is through the use of a hyperbaric chamber.
Experience inside a hyperbaric chamber
During pressurization, you might feel slight ear pressure changes, potentially causing discomfort. To alleviate this and avoid a sensation of fullness, simple actions like yawning, swallowing, or gently "blowing the nose" can help equalize pressure. Other than this, no unusual sensations are typically encountered.
How does a pressurized chamber enhance oxygen intake?
Within a chamber pressurized to 1.3 or 1.5 times the normal air pressure, it may seem unchanged, yet inhaling pure oxygen here provides you with 7-8 times more oxygen than usual. According to Henry's Law, the gas dissolved in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure. Pressurized oxygen dissolves into all body fluids quicker, boosting tissue oxygen to levels far above normal, scientifically proven to stimulate healing efficiently.
What improvements can I expect to see with hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
While it's challenging to predict specific outcomes due to diverse variables, general experience shows it's rare not to notice improvements. Our goal is an enhanced quality of life for everyone using this therapy.
Determining the right number of HBOT sessions
While you may not know the exact number needed, you can observe ongoing improvements. Clinical studies involving 1730 subjects suggest approximately 15 sessions for acute injuries and 40 for chronic ones. If results are seen in the initial 40 sessions, additional sessions are recommended. Your personal judgment is invaluable in determining the number of sessions needed.
